Dog Training Classes

The Great Falls / Reston Companion Dog Training School offers small group classes that last for 8 lessons each. All classes take place on Saturday mornings for about 1 hour, year round. The first 15 minutes of each class is devoted to dog play and socialization.

Each new 8-class session begins after the end of the previous session. Due to weather cancellations and holidays, some sessions will last longer than 8 weeks. Please check with us about when the next sessions begin.

We train at Saint Francis Episcopal Church, in the field next to the rear parking area. Please come on Saturday mornings (weather permitting) at 9:00 a.m. to observe class before you sign up!

Puppy Class: Our Beginner (or Puppy) Class is for dogs of all ages and people that need to learn the basics of training. In this class we practice socialization/play, "sit", "down", "wait", "trust transfer" (aka meeting new people) and introduce off-leash readiness concepts such as "stay" and "come".

Off-Leash Readiness: The next level of class after Puppy Class is Off-Leash Readiness. In this class, students learn how to begin to control their dog when he or she is off their leash. Dogs and people will learn concepts such as "stay" and "come" with the leash on for safety - this prepares dog and owner for off-leash activities in the future.

Private Dog Training

Currently we cannot offer private training. We anticipate we will be able to offer private consultations again in the fall. Email us for referrals.
